Reed: Penn State dominates Nevada

UNIVERSITY PARK –  The Penn State Nittany Lions welcomed in the Nevada Wolfpack for its first ever meeting between these two teams in a hostile environment at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium in front of 106,915 fans.


Nevada opened the game on offense. Their opening drive took eight plays totaling 44 yards. The drive would end on a turnover. Ky Woods would fumble to ball on a well played defensive gem by Dani Dennis Sutton to make a play on the football. AJ Harris would recover the fumble as the Nittany Lions would start on their own 31. Penn State would put a 13 play 69-yard drive together. The Nittany Lions would score on a 1-yard touchdown from Nicholas Singleton.

The duo between Singleton and Kaytron Allen combined for 62 total yards. Allen had 43 yards rushing on the afternoon while Singleton had 19 yards.

Penn State got production from both Drew Allar and Ethan Grunkemeyer. Allar finished his day late in the third quarter competling 22-of-26 217 yards and one passing touchdown. Grunkemeyer had some nice completions to tight end Andrew Rappleyea,Khalil Dinkins. Penn State went 7-of-9. Grunkemeyer also helped lead the charge on some big third down plays as a team they were 2-of-4 on third down.

Nevada quarterback and brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, Chubba Purdy went 7-of-15 throwing for 97 yards with a lone interception.

Zane Durant would be the guy to pick Purdy off. The Nittany Lions would come up empty and would have to settle for a field goal on a drive where they went four plays on minus four yards.

Penn State’s Kyron Hudson led the way for the Nittany Lions with 89 yards on six receptions. He had a touchdown in the teams 46-11 win over the Wolfpack.

The Nittany Lions also got production from Trebor Pena he would tally seven receptions on 74 yards Pena would also help out in the run game he would total 13 yards on just one carry.


Nevada got some production from their receivers with just very few points to show for .

Marcus Bellon was a heavy target he totaled 76 yards on six receptions. Jordan Brown was second in receiving yards with 32 yards on a pair of receptions.


Penn State scored 16 points off turnovers in the game. The Nittany Lions forced the Wolfpack into mistakes in this game as the Nittany Lions fed off of mistakes.

Penn State had a field day with the passing game throwing for 303 yards. The Wolfpack would be held to 125 yards through the air.  

Penn State willing to spread the ball around and good defense would prevail them to a win over Nevada 46-11.

Penn State will welcome in FIU, known as Florida International University, next weekend while Nevada will hope to rebound as they will welcome in Sacramento State. Both will look to continue facing non conference opponents in their respective next games.
