The Mifflin County Field Hockey teamtraveled to Camp Hill for the Labor Day weekend tournament. It consisted of two games, one versus New Oxford and one championship game against Camp Hill.
During the first game, the Huskies defeated New Oxford and successfully found the back of the cage three times. Jayda Kanagy scored the first goal on a ball from Bailey Neff to take the lead with five minutes left in the first quarter. The second goal was scored by Brynn Rowe as a rebound from the goalie during the second quarter. The final goal was scored by Bailey Neff on a pass from Jayda Kanagy as the pair made another connection to secure the final goal. Paige Snyder was 4-0 for shutouts on the season. The Huskies had 19 shots on goal and nine offensive penalty corners.
During the championship game against Camp Hill, the Huskies dominated the Lions in every category. The Huskies fought through three green cards and calls against them and still played consistent hockey. The Huskies had several opportunities to score during 15 penalty corners, as well as 21 shots on goal, but were unable to secure a ball in the cage. On the Huskies defensive side, Aubree Dobson refused to let the Lions score and had three defense saves to get her team out of trouble. After the regular game, the final score was 0-0.
The Lions went straight to shootouts to determine a winner of the tournament. After five shootouts for each team, the Huskies and Lions both scored two goals. This led to sudden death after a winner wasn’t found. During sudden death the Huskies fell short and the Lions won 1-0.
