The Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team battled in its opening game of the season but fell a little short, falling to. Central Mountain 2-1 on Saturday.
Central Mountain led in corner opportunities 4-0 and in shots on goal at 9-6.
The Lady Eagles goalie Cami Walker finished with seven saves while Central Mountain’s stopped Alyssa Ford finished with five saves.
“We dug ourselves a bit of a hole in the first half, giving up 2 goals, but we made some adjustments in the second half and held a good Central Mountain team scoreless,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “Maddy Jones had a great game today. She fed a beautiful ball through to Aiyanna Henniger who finished a great shot on a breakaway. I was really happy with how we rebounded in the second half and we put a great push on in the final 15 minutes, but were unable to find an equalizer unfortunately.”
Central Mountain’s Reese Warner knocked in the game’s first goal. She was followed on the scoreboard by teammate Lily McGonigal to take a 2-0 advantage going into the half. Bald Eagle cut the contest on an Aiyanna Henniger. She was assisted by Madilyn Jones.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-1 with their next game on August 25th versus Bishop Guilfoyle.
