Dom’s Predictions and Preview of Friday’s game Mifflin County vs Central Mountain.
Mifflin County is set to take on Central Mountain for a non conference matchup at the new sports complex home of the Mifflin County Huskies at Donald Chapman lll Stadium at Kish Bank Field.
Mifflin County opened things up on Saturday August 16 with a team scrimmage against Juniata.Mifflin County had got productive reps for all of their players majority of them you will see on the field on Friday nights in one instance Saturday when Mifflin County travels to Lower Dauphin for a 11 am kickoff on Saturday October 11.
Meanwhile their opponent the Central Mountain Wildcats opened things up at Loyalsock that same day the Wildcats also got productive reps out of their players in that scrimmage.
Mifflin County will look to build off a season last year where they finished the season 4-6 they were 3-6 in their conference. The Huskies were unbeaten in non conference play last year with their only game being non conference was the team that they will square off against on Friday it being Central Mountain the Purple and White saw themselves on the winning end of a game where it was all Mifflin County to total of 42 points earning the win 42-6.
Central Mountain will look to build from a season last year where the program went winless overall the Wildcats were outscored 499-101 last season the Wildcats will look for better fortunes no way better to start it against a team that they have struggled with Central Mountain has an 0-3 record against Mifflin County dating back to 2022 the Huskies and Wildcats have opened the season against each other the last three straight years. Mifflin County has outscored Central Mountain 97-19 in the last three meetings.
Central Mountain is led by head coach Travis Thompson and Mifflin County is led by Shane Breon.
Mifflin County has yet named a starter at the quarterback position prior to Friday’s game the three probable quarterbacks this season are Chase Hartung,Reese Christine and Noah Wolfkeil.
Mifflin County has been known for its running game over the years guys you could see this year is Jaxon Strohecker, Jayden Smith,Brandon Kauffman and Zahir Hill all those backs split reps in the teams scrimmage on Saturday Strohecker could get the bulk of the workload but Mifflin County has used their running backs in a variety of ways so don’t be surprised to see the Huskies use more than one this season. Mifflin County had depth at the receiver position last season to the likes of Cyrell Green,Dupree Reed,Avery Aurand and Landon Haigh the only one returning is Haigh that played a big role as a slot receiver. Expect to see guys like Joel Beamer Brayan Aurand Nevin Farley Dodger Weaver Dominique Siennick fill those shoes some might say Mifflin County lost good guys the Huskies still have experience in that position with Beamer,Farley,Weaver and Haigh all returning Beamer saw some playing time last season.
Mifflin County had a strong defense last season, guys that returned could still provide success up front and all around Bo Reeder, Corbin Yoder,Jacob Traxler, could all provide in those positions Mifflin County will most likely be creative in the other positions with guys playing both ways.
Central Mountain has yet named a starter but it looks they could rely on sophomore Kyle Everett and a guy that also brings experience in the non quarterback position is senior Keron Yerger he is likely to play a major role on both sides of the football.
Prediction:
Mifflin County brings a lot of experience alot of things have changed for this Mifflin County team Shane Breon was brought in to win and he has done that you look at the depth at all the positions for the Huskies especially the running game i think Mifflin County test the Wildcats defensive front the Huskies run game will wear the front down Mifflin County will do very little passing i expect them to use the run game heavy i think Central Mountain lacks experience and will come out on the wrong end of this game.
Mifflin County 35-7
