Mifflin County 15/16 All Stars Takes The Lead Late And Defeats Altoona in Babe Ruth action

The Mifflin County 15-16 All-Stars bested Altoona 4-3 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run.

Mifflin County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Carson Cherry grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Thad Gerwick grounded out, each scoring one run.

The Mifflin County squad added one run in the second. Bo Benny singled to center field, making the score 3-0.

Preston Long doubled to center field, which helped Altoona tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.

Gerwick earned the win for Mifflin County. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Gavin Treon took the loss for Altoona. The righty went three and one-third innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking two. Karl Shirey stepped on the bump first for Mifflin County. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Dustin Slowik stepped on the hill first for Altoona. The pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two.

Mifflin County collected 11 hits in the game. Wyatt Parkes led Mifflin County with three hits in three at bats. Benny and Cherry each drove in one run for Mifflin County .

Long went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Long stole two bases. Altoona stole six bases in the game.
