Late rally propels Bellefonte 12s to victory over Mounties

BELLEFONTE – A late rally Monday night against Philipsburg-Osceola proved to be the difference for the Bellefonte 12U baseball All-Stars at legendary Webster Field.

Tied at three going into the fifth, the Red Raiders rallied for a 4-run inning lifting the home team to a 7-3 victory over the battling crew of Philipsburg-Osceola.

Taking the mound for the Red Raiders was Brycen Mingle. Mingle allowed three runs in four innings and got the no decision. Jack Heron came in in relief and picked up the win.

Philipsburg-Osceola put hurler Jace Potter. Potter would take the loss in the nail biting contest.

Bellefonte finished with five hits. Oliver Lucas finished with a double and two RBIs. Others picking up hits for Bellefonte were Mingle, Roman Masullo, Frank Albright, Jack Heron and Jackson VanGunden.

Potter led the way offensively for the Mounties going a perfect 3-for-3. Nolan Potter and Jacob Neff added hits as well.

Tied at three in the bottom of the fifth, Bellefonte turned up the offense.

Braxton McClelland led off with a walk. Elliot Brezler also took a walk putting runners on first and third.

Teammates Jackson VonGunden and Oliver Lucas continued the consecutive walks. Lucas walked in McClelland.

Moving to the top of the order, lead off hitter William Ososki blasted an RBI Sacrifice fly, making it a 5-3 contest.

Heron added some insurance runs, blasting a 2-run double, upping the lead to four.

In the sixth, Heron and his defense held tight to take home the victory.

Philipsburg -Osceola got the bats out early posting three in the first.

Jase Potter opened with a smashing single down third base. Brock Showers walked, putting runners on first and second.

Jacob Neff roped a long single into right field, scoring Potter from second and putting Showers on third.

Carter Petulla bounced into an RBI fielders choice.

Rounding out the scoring in the inning, leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the opening inning.

Bellefonte got onto the board in the second inning.

Albright singled into centerfield. He later scored on an RBI fielders choice by Adams.

Mingle settled in from there on the mound.

In the third Bellefonte knotted the contest at three, posting two runs.

Defensively, the Mounties would make clutch plays throwing a runner out at the plate and third base to keep the game tied until late in the contest.

Bellefonte improved to 4-1 with the victory.
