Foxpro 14, Port Milda 4 (6 Innings)
MILROY –  The Foxpro Predators scored big hits in its 14-4 victory over the Port Milda Woodpeckers in CCBL baseball action Thursday evening.
The Predators got the bats going early during the bottom of the first inning where they scored four runs in the frame. It started with an RBI single to left from Isaiah Kearns which drove in Landen Eichhorn. But then, Jayden Smith came to the plate and launched a titanic shot over the left field to make it a 4-0 lead.
Foxpro added on two more runs during the bottom half of the third thanks to a Calin McKnight single which scored Smith and then later McKnight was driven in by a single from Elliot Yetter.
But the Woodpeckers were not going away so quietly as finally in the top of the fourth inning, they got on the board with a single Alex Rocco who brought home Christine Reese and then a single from Finn Powers scored Chase Liester.
However, Foxpro responded in the bottom half of the frame with two runs of their own. The first being a single from Kearns bring in Landen Eichhorn before scoring himself after an error by the catcher as he was moving to third.
But Port Milda continued to battle as they tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth thanks a to two RBI single from Nick Belinc scoring both Karl Shirey and Addison Dillon.
Foxpro bats stayed hot as during the bottom half of the frame, the Predators added four runs with a two RBI single from Aiden Arnold and then a first pitch two run home run courtesy of Ethan Eichhorn.
With the score at 12-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Port Milda tried to complete a double play but Evan Pupo managed to hustle down the line and beat out the throw. Which was needed because literally the very next pitch, McKnight missled one deep to left to complete the ten run rule and put the game on ice.
Foxpro had all but two of their batters get at least a hit in the game. Kearns went 2-for-4 two a double along with an RBI. McKnight was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs.
The Woodpeckers also had all but two batters collect a hit during the game. Leading the way was Belinc who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Aiden Arnold got the start for the Predators and pitched the first three and two-thirds innings and collected four strikeouts. Kearns pitched a third inning before Landen Eichhorn finished off the final two innings.
Both Foxpro and Port Milda will be hitting the road this coming Sundaywith the Predators going up against Milesburg while the Woodpeckers will do battle with Baseball U
Best of luck to both teams!
