BELLEVILLE- Despite battling tough throughout their contest against the Northern Tier 12U All-Stars the MIfflin County group fell 10-4 in the second round of the post season at Belleville.
Payson Ross led the MIfflin County offense posting a hit and two RBIs.
Other teammates posting hits were Olivia Bay and Callie Kuhns. Dara Imes also helped the offense with an RBI.
MC fell behind 2-0 early in the first and then two more in the second.
In the second, the Northern Tier added two more, taking a 4-0 advantage going into the third.
The hitting continued for the Northern squad as they added three in the third, taking a 7-0 advantage.
However, the MIfflin County team battled back after keeping their opponent scoreless in the fourth.
The team refused to go down without a fight, posting all four runs in the fifth, cutting Northern’s lead to 7-4.
Herto led off the inning with a walk.
Patience was a virtue for the MIfflin County squad as they reached on seven walks in the contest.
The Northern Tier team had their offensive game working posting 12 hits in the victory.
Pitching for Mifflin County were Alivia Ross and Sophia Herto.
Kuhns doubled into right field, moving Herto to third.
With one out, Josie Sunderland loaded the bases with a walk.
Navaeh Foose brought in Herto, ended the Northern’s shutout effort.
Ross blasted in Kuhns and Sunderland to cut the game to a 7-3 lead. Foose later scored on an out by Imes.
However, that would be as close as the Mifflin County team would be able to get as they would fall despite their valiant effort. With the loss, the season quietly ended for Mifflin County.
