Evan Mattern drove in four runs on two hits to lead Bellefonte past Forest Hills 13-1 on Friday. Mattern singled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the second inning, scoring one.
The Red Raiders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Oliver Thornburg doubled, scoring three runs, and Braeden Fortney singled, scoring one run.
A single by Mattern extended the Bellefonte lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning.
The Red Raiders extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Mattern and Thornburg.
Peyton Vancas led things off on the bump for Bellefonte. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking one.
Triston Heeman tossed three innings of no-run ball for Bellefonte in relief. The southpaw gave up one hit, striking out one and walking none.
The Red Raiders piled up 14 hits in the game. Fortney, Bellefonte’s number eight hitter, led the team with three hits in five at-bats. Vancas and Zach Lehman each collected multiple hits for Bellefonte.
The Red Raiders had patience at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Mattern, Cameron Lucas, and Vancas led the team with two bases on balls each. Vancas stole two bases. Bellefonte turned one double play in the game.
