Bellefonte With Tough Game Against Somerset Varsity Eagles

The Bellefonte baseball team couldn’t keep up with Somerset and fell 14-1 on Friday.

Somerset got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kahne Foltz singled to center field, and Zane Hagans grounded out, each scoring one run.

The Eagles added two runs in the second after Hagans singled down the right field line.

Somerset scored six runs on two hits in the top of the third inning. Lane Lambert homered to left field, scoring three runs, Cole Lucas homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Callen Miller hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Zach Lehman stepped on the mound first for Bellefonte. The starter surrendered seven hits and eight runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking five. Colt Hagans started on the hill for the Eagles. The starter surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three.

Oliver Thornburg led the team with one run batted in. Evan Mattern led the Red Raiders with one hit in one at bat. Bellefonte turned one double play in the game.

Somerset accumulated 11 hits in the game. Lucas led the Eagles with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Foltz collected two hits for the Eagles in two at bats. Somerset  had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Foltz and Braeden Flower led the team with two free passes each.

Next up for Bellefonte is a game against Penns Valley Area Varsity Rams on Tuesday.
