Big Sixth Inning Leads Line Mountain Past Lady Indians

Line Mountain defeated Juniata 11-1 on Monday thanks in part to eight runs in the sixth inning.

An error put Line Mountain on the board in the bottom of the fourth.

Line Mountain scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Madylinn Grindstaff singled, scoring three runs, Paytan Snyder doubled, scoring two runs, Natalie Witmer doubled, scoring one run, M Ebersole was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored one run.

Grindstaff earned the win for Line Mountain. The starter surrendered six hits and one run (zero earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Kaylnn Brown took the loss for Juniata. The starter went five innings, allowing eight runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking six.

The Lady Indians’s Ashley Piper, the number seven hitter, led Juniata with two hits in three at bats.

Snyder went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Mateyah Teter led Line Mountain with two hits in four at bats. Line Mountain had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Koera Leitzel and Addy Nelson led the team with two free passes each. Line Mountain stole four bases in the game.

Next up for Juniata  is a game at Halifax on Wednesday.
