MILROY – Sunday, Reedsville welcomed in Milroy for a Babe Ruth showdown where Reedsville served as the home team.
Milroy drew first blood Blaze Shreffler would be walked. Chase Krepps would go down on strikes. Karl Shirley would also go down on strikes but good baserunning from Milroy would earn them a run to take a 1-0 advantage. Shreffler would also have a stolen base in the top of the first inning.
Reedsville scoring wasn’t hard to come by the “boys in red” would put points on the board in each of its four innings.
Milroy was led by strong pitching from Shreffler going nearly the distance pitching 95 pitches but pitched strong.
“We have to work definitely on the errors. We had five errors in the game so there were two which normally when you have five errors you don’t win a game,” Milroy coach Steve Weaver said,” But we hit the ball when we needed to and they had their errors at costly times. But its a work in progress. So we will work on it and build on it from here and the rest of the season.”
Thad Geriwick had two RBI’s on the night on a RBI single and groundout. Jarren Kenny drove in two big runs in the top of the seventh inning to give the team a 8-4 lead.
Reedsville was led by strong performances despite the teams loss.
Wyatt Parkes had three hits on the night, one hit being a Triple during his first at bat. Karter Kanagy drove in two runs on the night despite the loss.
Jameison Parkes gave his team two strong innings, allowing one run. He would have a rough ending throwing eight consecutive balls, walking two batters Noah Bunch and Camden Kauffman would pitch in relief.
MIlroy’s late surge would prevail them to a 8-4 win. The game would end on a infield fly rule call to give MIlroy the win over a battling Reedsville team that is just as good as Milroy. Fans were treated to a stellar performance by both teams.
