Third-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Susquenita  Past East Juniata

Susquenita scored eight runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat East Juniata 15-0 on Wednesday.

The Blackhawks were the first to get on the board in the first when Chase Fisher singled, scoring one run.

Susquenita added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after William Syster singled, Jacob White hit a sacrifice fly, Galen Wenrich singled to center field, Colton Fry singled up the middle, and the Tigers dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.

Susquenita  scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, White singled, scoring one run, Fry drew a walk, scoring one run, Owen Messimer induced Fisher to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, an error scored two runs, Justin Reidlinger singled, scoring one run, and Hostetter drew a walk, scoring one run.

Jon Erdossy earned the win for Susquenita . The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Wyatt Weges took the loss for East Juniata. The starter went two and one-third innings, giving up nine runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out four and walking two.

The Blackhawks tallied 10 hits in the game. Fisher provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Susquenita Varsity Blackhawks with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Syster, Susquenita’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Fisher, Reidlinger, Wenrich, and Hostetter each stole multiple bases for the Blackhawks. Susquenita Varsity Blackhawks stole 12 bases in the game. Susquenita was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Syster made the most plays with five.

East Juniata  welcomes Halifax on Saturday for their next game.
