The Mifflin County Jr. High volleyball team hit the road this evening to face off against the Milton Hershey Spartans.
The 8th grade team opened the night with a tightly contested first set, narrowly edging out the Spartans 26-24. After that, the team never looked back and cruised through the second set with a convincing 25-16 victory. The Huskies had solid defensive play, with Briah Moore leading the way with four digs and a strong serve receive effort. Jayda Thomas led the offense with six assists and added two aces. Lily Curry contributed two assists, two aces and a kill while Ayden Long added four aces and a block.
The 7th grade team started strong, taking the first set in a 25-19 win. Despite some serving struggles in the second set, which led to a 16-25 loss, the team regrouped and dominated the third set with a 15-4 win to take the match. Olivia Bedlyon and Braylee Breon were strong from behind the service line, contributing six aces each. Geneva Kelly led the defensive end with two digs and a solid effort on serve receive. On the offensive end, Addyson Marks dished out five assists, while Jovi Kauffman added two. Olivia also tallied three kills, with Geneva and Makenzie Resto each contributing two.
The team is on the road again Thursday for the final match of the season, taking on the Colts from Cedar Cliff.
