Taylor Bumgardner struck out 11 batters as the hurler led Penns Valley past Clearfield 11-0 on Tuesday. Bumgardner surrendered zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking two.
The Lady Rams got on the board in the top of the first inning after the Bison committed an error, Haddley Stover singled to center field, Lilyana Treweek singled to center field, and Callie Riddle singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
A sacrifice fly by Sydnie Dalton, a single by Stover, and a ground out by Treweek helped the Lady Rams extend their early lead in the second.
Three more Penns Valley runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 11-0. Masey Fultz grounded out, scoring one run, and Elle Dinges hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs.
Meg Wisor started the game for the Bison. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and 10 runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking three.
The Lady Rams amassed 11 hits in the game. Stover drove the middle of the lineup, leading Penns Valley with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Stover, Riddle, Emily Wert, and Clara Brooks each collected two hits for the Lady Rams. Penns Valley were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Dalton had the most chances in the field with 11.
The Lady Rams will travel to Forest Hills Varsity for their next game on Friday.
