Juniata Indians Secure Win Against Line Mountain

The Juniata Indians outsted Line Mountain 9-4 on Monday.

The Indians were the first to get on the board in the first when Drew Geedey grounded out, scoring one run.

Juniata Varsity added two runs in the second. Geedey singled down the right field line, making the score 3-0.

Line Mountain jumped into the lead in the top of the third when an error scored one run, and Geyer doubled, scoring three runs.

Fabian Plesce grounded into a fielder’s choice, which helped the Indians tie the game at four in the bottom of the third.

A ground out by Caleb Auker gave Juniata the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth.

Quentin Houtz earned the win for the Indians. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Troutman took the loss for the Eagles. The hurler went three and one-third innings, giving up five runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking three. Bryce Harlon stepped on the mound first for the Indians. The hurler surrendered one hit and four runs (zero earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking six. Geyer stepped on the mound first for Line Mountain. The pitcher surrendered two hits and four runs (three earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four. Geedey threw one inning of zero-run ball for Juniata Varsity in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Calvin Decker, Gage Harlon, Daylyn Kennedy, Geedey, and Auker each collected one hit for Juniata Varsity Indians. Geedey led the Indians with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Juniata  had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Cam Bargo and Houtz led the team with two walks each. Harlon and Geedey each stole multiple bases for the Indians. Juniata  ran wild on the base paths, piling up eight stolen bases for the game.

Geyer and Laudenslager were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Line Mountain. Geyer provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Line Mountain with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Line Mountain had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Dunkelberger, Dunn, and Seedor led the team with two walks each. Line Mountain ran wild on the base paths, piling up four stolen bases for the game.

The Indians welcome Susquenita on Friday for their next game.
