Kelton Bonnell drove in four runs on two hits to lead East Juniata past Upper Dauphin 9-6 on Wednesday. Bonnell doubled in the third scoring two, walked in the fourth scoring one, and doubled in the sixth scoring one.
The Trojans were the first to get on the board in the first when Wyatt Troutman singled, scoring two runs.
A ground out by Karson Engle extended the Upper Dauphin’s lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
East Juniata flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Owen Messimer that drove in two.
Bonnell earned the win for the Tigers. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and six runs (four earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking five. Hunter Grassmyer took the loss for Upper Dauphin. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking two. Colt Bellis led things off on the hill for the Trojans. The hurler gave up six hits and six runs (two earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Messimer collected the save.
East Juniata amassed nine hits in the game. Ian Drukenmiller went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits. Austin Shearer collected two hits for East Juniata in three at bats. The Tigers turned one double play in the game.
Leadoff hitter Tyler Minier led Upper Dauphin with three hits in four at bats. The Trojans ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game.
