State College fell 10-7 to Mechanicsburg Varsity Wildcats on Wednesday despite out-hitting them nine to eight. Jessica Hawbaker led the Little Lions with three hits.

Hawbaker collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Hawbaker hit a home run to center field in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.

Mechanicsburg  got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jada Lacey doubled down the left field line, Asha Pratt grounded out, and Mackinley Giblin walked, each scoring one run.

The Wildcats scored four runs in the top of the second on a grand slam to center field by Pratt on the seventh pitch of the at-bat.

Mechanicsburg  added one run in the third. Reagan Condon singled to center field, making the score 8-0.

The Little Lions made the score 10-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Hawbaker homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Lilyana Williams singled, scoring one run.

Lacey earned the win for Mechanicsburg. The starter allowed nine hits and seven runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking two. Addison Harpster pitched five innings in relief for State College. The hurler surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) while, striking out eight and walking seven. Paige Moriarta took the loss for State College. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering seven runs on four hits, striking out one and walking three.

MJ McShea collected two hits for the Little Lions in four at bats.

Pratt provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mechanicsburg with five runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Lacey went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mechanicsburg in hits. Condon collected two hits for the Wildcats in three at bats. Mechanicsburg had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Pratt and Condon led the team with two free passes each.

Next up for State College is a game against Altoona on Thursday.
