Juniata Victorious Over Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy

The Juniata Indians baseball team took down Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy 8-5 on Wednesday.

The Indians got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Bryce Harlon singled to center field, and Jason Condo stole home, each scoring one run.

Juniata added one run in the second after Fabian Plesce grounded out.

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy tied the game in the top of the third thanks to an error, and a single.

A single by Cam Bargo gave Juniata Varsity Indians the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third.

Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after the Indians committed an error, and Sincavage singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Juniata jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Harlon singled down the right field line, and Gage Harlon laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run.

Harlon earned the win for the Indians. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking five. Ramos took the loss for Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy. The hurler went four innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking six. Jack Greenholt collected the save.

Harlon drove the middle of the lineup, leading Juniata with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Caleb Auker led the Indians with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Daylyn Kennedy and Auker each stole multiple bases for the Indians. Juniata Varsity Indians stole 14 bases in the game.

Sincavage, Foytack, Grove, Ramos, and Balazik each collected one hit for Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy. Sincavage and Foytack each drove in one run for Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy. Lingle led Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy turned one double play in the game.

Next up for Juniata is a game against Upper Dauphin Area on Thursday.
