Ava Baker A Difficult Out As Mifflin County Defeats Cedar Cliff

Ava Baker collected three hits in four at bats, as Mifflin County defeated Cedar Cliff 18-8 on Wednesday. Baker hit a solo home run to center field in the sixth inning, singled in the third inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.

The Lasy Huskies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Falynn Reinard doubled to left field, Malaina Maxwell doubled down the left field line, and Carly Dickson grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mifflin County added two runs in the second. Jalee Bodtorf singled to center field, making the score 5-0.

The Lady Huskies added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Dickson singled down the left field line, Macy Pietzch singled to center field, Riley Hine singled to center field, Bodtorf grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Baker singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Brooke Capozzoli hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for the Cedar Cliff.

Cedar Cliff scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Alaina Tarnoci.

The Huskies scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Baker hit a solo home run to center field, Mya Felmlee drew a walk, scoring one run, Hine singled, scoring two runs, Reinard grounded out, scoring one run, and Maxwell singled, scoring two runs.

Pietzch earned the win for Mifflin County. The hurler allowed 11 hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Olivia Vasquez took the loss for Cedar Cliff. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits, striking out none and walking two.

The Lady Huskies piled up 17 hits in the game. Hine set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Mifflin County with four hits in five at bats. Maxwell, Bodtorf, and Hine each drove in three runs for the Lady Huskies. Dickson, Baker, and Reinard each collected multiple hits for Mifflin County. Reinard led the Lady Huskies with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.

Cedar Cliff collected 11 hits in the game. Capozzoli led Cedar Cliff with three hits in four at bats.

Next up for Mifflin County is a game against Central Dauphin on Thursday.
