Bellefonte won big over Greater Johnstown Varsity Trojans 13-3 on Friday at Governor’s Park.

A single by Oliver Thornburg put the Red Raiders on the board in the bottom of the first.

Bellefonte added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Peyton Vancas doubled down the left field line, and Evan Mattern grounded out, each scoring one run.

Bellefonte added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when LJ Dunbar induced Vancas to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Parker VonGunden grounded out, scoring two runs.

The Raiders scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Isaac Gall grounded out, scoring one run, Carsen Henry singled, scoring two runs, Kaivaun Malcolm induced Mattern to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Caleb Auman singled, scoring one run.

Henry stepped on the bump first for Bellefonte. The hurler surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Dunbar started on the bump for Greater Johnstown Varsity Trojans. The pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking four. Cameron Lucas appeared in relief for the Red Raiders.

Bellefonte piled up 15 hits in the game. Henry led the Raiders with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 2-for-2 on the day. Thornburg, Henry, Braeden Fortney, Vancas, and Zach Lehman each collected two hits for Bellefonte. Henry led the Red Raiders with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.

Brock Kobal and Eli Felosky were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Greater Johnstown. Kobal and Jaydan Caban each drove in one run for The Trojans. Greater Johnstown didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tyler Penrod had the most chances in the field with five.

Bellefonte will travel to Bellwood-Antis Varsity Blue Devils for their next game on Monday.
