BURNHAM – The Huskies fought hard, but ultimately were defeated by the Carlisle Bisons by the final of 4-1 during a Mid-Penn Conference Boys tennis match on Wednesday.
The lone win of the day for Mifflin County came thanks to the senior duo of Kamden Everly and Brice Rishel who defeated the team of Jake Bruce and Daris Dedic in straight sets winning the first set 6-2 and then the second set by the final of 6-3.
One of the biggest matches during the meet was the singles match between senior Chauncey Maher for Carlisle while sophomore Logan Breneman represented the Huskies. Maher took the first set 6-2 and but then Breneman battled his way back in the second set and came out victorious with a 7-5 victory. The third set could have gone either way, in fact, Maher and Breneman eventually tied with each other at six apiece forcing a tie-breaker.
But in the tie-breaker, the senior Maher managed to dig down deep and edged out Breneman to take the 7-6 win for the match.
With this loss, Mifflin County drops to (4-6) and will look to rebound today as they will travel to do battle with the Hershey Trojans.
