The State College Lady Little Lions could not keep pace with Cumberland 9-4 on Wednesday.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the first after Brooke Yasenchak singled, scoring two runs.
State College tied the game up in the bottom of the first thanks to two home runs. The Little Lions tied the game at two on a solo home run to center field by Jessica Hawbaker.
Cumberland Valley took the lead in the top of the second. Janelle Schneider hit a solo home run to right field, to give the Eagles the edge, 3-2.
Cumberland scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to center field by Lauren Richardson following a 8-pitch at-bat.
Sydney Wells hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for the State College.
Addison Harpster hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fourth for the Little Lions.
Richardson earned the win for Cumberland Valley. The starter allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Harpster took the loss for State College. The pitcher went four innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking three.
MJ McShea and Harpster each collected two hits for the Little Lions. Hawbaker, McShea, Harpster, and Wells each drove in one run for State College . The Little Lions didn’t commit a single error in the field. Elizabeth Sikorski had the most chances in the field with 10.
Cumberland Valley piled up 10 hits in the game. Rylie Brill, Sydney May, and Richardson each collected two hits for the Eagles. May and Richardson each drove in two runs for Cumberland Valley.
Next up for State College is a game at Bellefonte on Saturday.
