Juniata opens season with Monday win over Penns Valley

The Juniata Indians baseball team took down Penns Valley Area 7-2 on Monday.

Juniata got on the board in the first inning after Bryce Harlon singled, scoring one run.

Penns Valley Area tied the game at one in the top of the second.

The Indians flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Harlon that drove in two.

Carson Kepner started on the hill for Juniata . The pitcher surrendered six hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.

Daylyn Kennedy appeared in relief for Juniata Varsity Indians.

Harlon drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Indians with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-3 on the day.

Jack Greenholt and Harlon each collected two hits for Juniata.

The Rams turned one double play in the game.

The Indians play at home on Thursday against Southern Huntingdon County in their next game.
