HERSHEY- Friday, Mifflin County had all three wrestlers survive day one, feeling pretty good about a chance to place after day two but only one matman will wrestle in day three.

Mifflin County’s Andrew Alexander was the first in line to compete to start out day two in the consolation round. Alexander would get off to a strong start grabbing a one point lead after being granted an escape. Alexander wouldn’t be done yet he would then get the take down he would still have the advantage leading 4-0. Sean Morley wouldn’t put up a single point against Alexander as he would go onto blank the Conestoga Valley product 7-0. Alexander would not be able to do the same in match two he would face 31-4 Upper Dublin’s Dom Powell.

Powell would get the early take down as he would have the advantage the rest of the way only giving up one escape point to route Alexander of his chances to move on and eventually win the match he would come up short 4-1 by decision.

Avery Aurand would face the freshman from Dubois’ Kendahl Hoare. Hoare would draw first blood taking a eraly 1-0 lead over Aurand after one period.

Hoare would have the upper hand it would be a quick transition. Aurand would earn the quick escape to draw even.

He would draw a neutral start in overtime but Hoare would earn the takedown to win in sudden victory to put an end to the run of Aurand’s season in his final season in a Huskies uniform.

Senior Peyton Kearns would fall early to Owen J Roberts’  Dean Bechtold by tech fall.

But Kearns would have that positive mindset to use to his advantage by knowing he needed to win and bounce back. He would do just that he as he would pin Tai Stoltzfus to guarantee himself a state medal. He would then go onto wrestle in the fourth consolation match during the late night hours at the Giant Center.

But the moment wouldn’t be too big for Kearns he would handle Philup Rearick 4-0 on one escape and one takedown to blank Rearick. Kearns will wrestle Saturday morning in the fifth round of consolations.
