MC boys 4000-meter DMR team punches ticket to states, Huskies finish off regular indoor season at PSU

UNIVERSITY PARK – They’re back!

After taking a month hiatus from active competition, the MIfflin County indoor track and field team was back in action as they were back in familiar territory competing at the Horace Ashenfelter III indoor track and field complex on the Penn State Campus.

The Huskies had another strong showing in the State College Invitational 3. It was the Huskies last indoor invitational of the season.

“We got a lot of good performances tonight. Quite a few kids did what we like them to do and end on a high note with a season’s best,” said Mifflin County coach Tamara Sechler. “One team that we are particularly excited about is the DMR . The boys did very well. They are currently right now sitting sixth in the states. So they definitely qualified for states. We are excited about that. We are taking two relays and Carter (Smith) in whichever individual event he chooses.”

Mifflin County’s 4000-meter DMR relay was once again the top finisher in the competition posting a finishing time of 10:22.08 to officially lead off the competition. As of press time, the team punched their ticket to the State Competition, currently standing in the top six best teams in the state.

The team consisted of Reese Cubbison, Connor Lynch,   Wyatt Kauffman and Carter Smith.

Mifflin County got its best showing in girls competition In the 3000-meter run as Amilia Coffey finished third with a time of 11:41.26. Teammate Ava Kratzer followed sporting a fifth place finish of 11:56.47.

Michael McNitt finished with a fourth place nod in the 60-meter hurdles posting a time of 8.86 while teammate Brayden Stitt finished in ninth place with a time of 10.26.

McNitt also placed 10th in the 400-meter run with a final time of 56.71. Stitt rounded out MC with a 16th place finish of 1:00.22.

McNitt was a very busy competitor Thursday as he posted a 6th place finish in the high jump at 5’ 5”.

Stitt also found his way into the top 12 in the shootout posting a throw of 33’ 8.50”. Teammate Anthony Palopoli placed 16th with a top throw of 27’ 2”.

McNitt also saw action in the triple jump where he finished 6th with a jump of 37’ 4.75”. Plank placed eighth with a top jump of  36’ 8.50”.

Aidan Scavitti finished 7th in the mile run for the Huskies as he topped out with a time of 4:42.08.

In the 800, Styers Oden finished at 15th with a mark of 2:09.48.

Competing in the 200-meter run, MIfflin County’s Trevan Diven placed 17th with a time of 24.52. Teammate Camryn Treaster finished in 20th place posting a 25.34.

In the 4×200 relay, the MIfflin County boys finished 6th with a time of 1.46.49.

Rounding out the day on the track for the Huskies was the 4×400 relay. The Huskies finished the day posting a strong time of  3:39.07 good enough for a second place finish.

Mifflin County’s Ethan Plank captured a top 10 spot with a jump of 17’ 7.25” in the long jump.

Juniata’s Wyatt Stroup finished second in the 3000-meter run with a stellar time of 8:59.42. MIfflin County’s Hoyt Rodenbaugh placed 8th with his time of 9:24.43.

Teammate Koy Aurand finished 11th with a mark of 9.37.40.

In the girls competition, the Lady Huskies finished fifth in the 400-meter relay event. The team finished with a time of 16:10.36.

Danielle Warfel gave Mifflin County a fifth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.45.

Teammate Madison Baumgardner finished 12th with a finishing time of time of 11.62.

Warfel also shined in the 400-meters as she placed a solid fifth place with a time of 1:05.94.

Participating in the 60-meter dash MIfflin County runner Falynn Reinard posted a 16th place time of 9.21.

The Lady Huskies had a lone runner finish in the 1-mile run.

Alexis Anderson placed 17th as she took home a time of 6:30.19.

Liberty Cook finished 13th in the 800-meter run posting a time of 2:37.44. Juniata runner Carolyn Heidenreich finished with a 2.42.18 good enough to capture 19th.

In the 200, Taylor Kenepp finished with a 6th place time of 27.81.

In the girls 4×400 relay, the Huskies placed 6th with a final mark of 4:30.95.

In the shot put, Mifflin County was led by Madison Baumgardner who placed 10th with a best throw of 23’ 0.25”.

Sophia Heider had a good showing in the triple jump finishing with a final mark of 27’ 4”.

The Huskies Maddie Clinard placed 9th in the high jump posting a leap of 4’ 0”.

She also placed 10th in the long jump with a jump of 13’ 11.75”.

Next up for the Huskies will be state competition, March 2nd back at Penn State.
