ALTOONA – Saturday morning, the Juniata Indians wrestled took to the mats as they battled at the District 6 Class AA division at Altoona Area High School.

The Indians put up a tough battle all night. It started with Ryder Smith as he would fall in his match early but he would regroup and end up placing third. Smith showed toughness and a never-give-up attitude. Smith would pulled the upset beating a number two seed in his respective bracket.

Colton Rowles,Kelton Bonnell placed in their respective brackets.

“Well just based on today’s performance from the guys that we actually had continuing the second day I mean they all came in and they showed their teammates what its going to take,” said Juniata coach Jared Dressler.  And actually to advance Ryder Smith who came out for the consolation semi’s and beat the second seed for the third place finish. So, I mean he came out with a determination that he wasn’t going to take anything less even after he lost the in the championship bracket. So I mean that right there shows a lot. Kelton Bonnell came out tough and wrestled his heart out as well. Then Colton, he came so close. But I think that lit a fire on them for the following season and the good thing is this year we don’t have any seniors. The whole lineup is either sophomores or juniors so we have everybody that saw the performance of the guys from the day have something to look forward to and have something to build up to.”
