The Shippensburg University wrestling team completed its dual meet schedule with a setback against No. 20 Kutztown in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual Friday at KU’s Keystone Arena, 39-6.
Shippensburg (7-10, 1-5 PSAC) sophomore Noah Gilgore (Ashland, Pa./North Schuylkill) received a forfeit in the opening bout before Kutztown (10-1, 4-1) reeled off nine consecutive victories.
Graduate Nick Delp (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) fought hard against KU’s No. 12-ranked 165-pounder Bailey Gimbor, scoring the initial takedown against Gimbor and breaking a 4-4 tie with a second period escape before dropping an 11-5 decision.
Senior Connor Livingston (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) battled KU heavyweight Dustin Swanson to a 1-0 decision, with a riding time point proving to be the deciding factor in a Swanson win.
KU’s three other nationally-ranked wrestlers – Jimmy Ryan (No. 15 at 149), Dalton Gimbor (No. 10 at 174) and 2024 NCAA Division 2 runner-up Matt Weinberg (No. 2 at 184) – all posted bonus-point wins.
Shippensburg next begins preparations for the NCAA Super Region 1 Champions set for March 1 at Fairmont State.
