LEWISTOWN – Saturday, the Mifflin County Junior Varsity team welcomed in the Cedar Cliff Colts on Gold Out Night inside the MIfflin County High School Gym in support of Childhood Cancer.
Mifflin County jumped out to a 7-0 lead early on it was smooth showing for the Huskies early on and often.
Mifflin County was led by Carson Franklin totaing 10 point on the night. Preston Earnest had seven points on the afternoon. Only one player reached double figures. Bryce Hartsock was close with nine points. Franklin would be the only player where they saw their team push across 45 points enroute to a win over the Colts.
“The team responded well. They came out and played as a team and thats what weve been challenging them to do and they showed us tonight that they wanted to win,” said Mifflin County coach Glen Franklin. There was not gonna be a letdown. They shared the basketball and they played together. I saw we’ve been trying to do when you do that there as good as anybody And there are a great group of kids that plays hard and when they play to win together they can beat anybody.”
Cedar Cliff were led by Keegan Edwards with nine total points on the afternoon. Will Blom would have six on the afternoon. Mifflin County forced the Colts to turn the ball over and play at a faster pace of basketball. Cedar Cliff was not accustomed to that. Mifflin County would be held to five points in the fourth quarter their biggest quarter would be in the first when the Huskies scored 18.
Mifflin County would hang on to win despite only scoring five points the fourth. The Huskies would earn a JV win over Cedar Cliff 45-30.
