STATE COLLEGE – Creating treasured memories!

State College sophomore high school student and varsity swimmer David Ulmer has created his own buisness called Unprinted Creations.

Using state of the art equipment, creates and personalizes and creates different items for special occasions and events.

“This summer I was thinking about things I can do. I’ve done CAD work before and I was doing some work for some swimming teams through my parents. I thought I could do this for some other teams if I started a business,” said Ulmer when asked about what gave him the idea for his business. “I was really interested in that. I could do this for clubs I could do this for schools and kind of expand on that. I already had a base from the groups I’ve already done.”

The company Unprinted Creations, thrives on personalization and innovation while bringing quality to their product. Their passion for design and customization drives them to bring their customer’s ideas to life in stunning 3D personalized products. They are dedicated to capturing the essence of their customer’s school, team, club, or business in every custom creation.

Unprinted started for Ulmer as a fun hobby, but quickly turned into something much more serious. He started their small operation with some of the sports teams that he  was personally affiliated with, and quickly saw an opportunity to do something he loves for everyone.

The uniqueness for his business is that it is run out of Ulmer’s home.

“I run it all out of our home. So, I actually have two printers. One of them is actually the one I do most of the designs on,” said Ulmer. “I have a print schedule I’ve done. I schedule it that if I have orders overlap they are always done in the time because I don’t have to be there when it prints. I can do it over night.

Ulmer came across the idea when asked to do an award for a local swimming group.

“It’s actually pretty funny. I was doing a medallion for the summer swim group called the CPSL. I walked down stairs and after I designed it and printed it I thought I can do this for more people than just swim teams so that was the idea. I already had the skills and the resources to do that.”

Unprinted Creations creates personalized trinkets, medallions and other special creations.

“I’ve done stuff from School clubs, sports teams and other organizations which is really cool,” said Ulmer. “I’ve done designs for clubs that I’ve been apart of and clubs that I’m not apart of that reach out to me.

Ulmer’s goals for the buisness is one’s that very attainable for the 16-year old entrepreneur. “When I started this, and Mr. (William) Gendron helped me a little bit with getting my footing and ideas that started this thing rolling,” said Ulmer. “I wanted to learn the experience of how to run a buisness and what goes into it.  How do I do outreach? How do I do marketing? I feel like I’ve learned a lot of that. It’s more so about making g an impact in my community now and being able to reach out to teams. What I really didn’t like was that there a keychains you get online they fall apart easily. There is one that I had that it’s just acrylic and they put a piece of paper on the back that has their logo on it. I was like why is that one of the only options people have? I thought I could do better than that. Based on market pricing, because I’ve done a lot of research on market analysis, these are just about a dollar more than others. It is comparable to the quality of it which is a very able options for clubs and organizations.”

The process so far for the State College sophomore has been a memorable one.

“It’s been good! I try to keep things consistent in the production process,” said Ulmer. “The person (customer) reaches out to me or I either schedule them a time right then or design what it will look like and I show them there. I also like showing them what other projects I have done.”

Ulmer then shows them a mock design and explains to his customers what some of the options are and leaves it up to his customer to make the final decision.

The final results are magical as the 3-D effects and designs give his customer’s something to savor and have a lifelong trinket to cherish the events of special moments in time.
