LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County 9th grade junior high Huskies welcomed in State College at the Mifflin County High School on Mini Thon Night for a 12:30 tip off.
Mifflin County got out to a fast start playing stellar basketball to begin the game.
Mifflin County would go on a 11-0 run. Ellie Markle would drain a three pointer to finally get the Lady Little Lions on the board Mifflin County would still have the advantage leading 11-3.
Mifflin County was led by star Jemma Kanagy totaling 13 points on the afternoon. Kanagy played well offensively and defensively recording a hat trick of steals in the first half of play for Mifflin County that would continue throughout the game in a all team effort.
“Coaches talked to them after the game just about how well they play together, how well they moved the ball and actually today we did a really good job. Not just in the half court of executing and getting good looks,” said MC Coach Andrew Baker. “We ran the floor well. We got our heads up l, we saw runners, we finished at the rim. We told them they have a lot of skill. They’ve played together for a long time and there as the season goes just continuing to put pieces together which makes it fun as a coach and makes it hopefully scary for other teams.”
Grace Napikoski played well as well she was second in scoring total 12 points on the afternoon Napikoski had five two pointers the rest of her points came from the foul line.
Huskies led at halftime 30-8 in a commanding lead will all around great performances.
Mifflin County started out with a boom to start the third quarter Lily Curry had her team off to a great start Curry would drain back to back threes it would eventually make the score 33-11 Mifflin County wouldn’t look back the points would keep on coming Mifflin County would lead the whole games after three quarters the Huskies would lead 45-14.
State College got good performances from the leading scorer on the team in the game Sydney Mikesic. She finished with ten total points. Rainey Walker would have six on the afternoon but Mifflin County would come out victorious at home 54-21 to remain unbeaten under Coach Baker and his staff.
