LEWISTOWN- The Mifflin County Boys basketball team welcomed in the Hershey Trojans at the Mifflin County High School. Mifflin County hung in there early but the Trojans claimed the win over Mifflin County 78-50

“The first thing we look at in every single game is you know how much effort did we give while we were on the court,” Mifflin County coach Wade Curry said. “The effort was there tonight. We gain experience every time we have to play without the guys that are injured. We have six guys out and three are starters. But anytime you have to play with that kind of adversity it just makes you stronger as you advance through the season. So i’m sure there’ll be an opportunity were we see the benefits.”

Mifflin County was lead by senior Aidan Attivo totaing 17 points on the night despite falling to the Trojans.

The Huskies Josh Hartzler really helped contribute tonight and was second in scoring with 13 points.

It took Hershey some time to get in rhythm missing their shots early. Mifflin County led 4-0 early. The Huskies gave the game away with costly turnovers.

“The Purple and White” would watch their lead slip away trailing 5-4. Cameron Sweeney would be a main part of helping his team get jump started. Roman Panko would have a big first half too being hard to stop for the Huskies defense.

Sweeney would be at his best tonight being the leading scorer on the night with 23 total points. Jaiden Waynes was second on the team in scoring with 11.

Hershey led the whole game aftering trailing 4-0.

The Trojans led 18-11 after the first quarter Hershey and never looked back, dominating the Huskies at home late in the game with 1:51 to go in the fourth quarter. Coach Curry would put some players out that usually don’t get playing time.

Carson Cherry would pick his first two points up on the night. Carson Franklin would have a pretty good night with seven points Mifflin County would fall to the Trojans at home.

“We were down four varsity players we usually have. I think we came out with a really really good first half considering that we were out a lot of players,” said Aidan Attivo “But regardless we’re just gonna get back to the gym, get more shots up and try to get more consistent in shooting and then we’ll be back and ready for  Friday for Cedar Cliff.”

Mifflin County will travel to play Cedar Cliff Friday in hopes to get back to their winning ways after dropping tonight’s game against Hershey.
