LEWISTOWN -Opening night at home is always a special night for most teams, Tuesday it was the Mifflin County wrestling team to compete in front of their fans in the Dawg Pound.
However, the Colts spoiled the Huskies home meet, topping MIfflin County 38-31.
Mifflin County battled throughout but it would fall just short.
“This was our opening match. First time kids making weight tonight. We saw some of that. There were some kids who had great matches. They went out there and got bonus points,” said Mifflin County coach Kirby Martin. “But we gave up too many bonus points and that ultimately was the difference.”
The match opened at the 145-pound weight class. The Colts Keegan Ziegler put his team in the lead as he pinned Brian Albert with a fall at 3:58. Ziegler opened with a quick takedown of Albert. Albert worked out of a hold and picked up an escape point, cutting it to 3-1. In the second, Albert took the down position and managed to pull a reversal on Ziegler, tying things at 3-3. But Ziegler took back the momentum. He would use that to finally pin Albert.
