LEWISTOWN – It went down to the final few minutes of the game, but ultimately it was the Burnham Bulldogs who scored the victory defeating the Juniata Little Indians by the final score of 14-12 in the second of the three CKFL Peewee football games at Mitchell Field Friday afternoon.
Juniata struck first as Mason DeLancey sent a missile of the pass to receiver Kase Goshorn that went 56 yards for the touchdown. It was the only points scored in the first quarter.
But then early in the second quarter, Burnham handed the ball off to Conner Rose who punched in a four yard touchdown run before a Chantz Williams extra point gave the Bulldogs a 7-6 lead.
With under a minute left to play in the first half, the Little Indians took the lead back thanks to DeLancey scoring a two yard run making it 12-7 heading into halftime.
The third quarter was filled with defensive plays and missed opportunities as Juniata had the ball at the goal line only to have the ball fumbled bouncing into the endzone and into the arms of Williams, getting a touchback.
The Bulldogs finally broke through the glass ceiling offensively, compiling a big drive that ended with a nine yard touchdown run from Rose which was his third of the day as well as the winning touchdown.
Along with Rose, Burnham was led by Ricky Jenkins III, Williams and Archer Curry. Meanwhile for Juniata, the Little Indians found major contributions from DeLancey, Goshorn and Cooper Snyder.
Congrats to both teams!
