BOALSBURG – We are getting closer to basketball season and I recently had an interview with Wolfpack coach Ethan Khoza. Hope you all enjoy it!

JY: How excited are you for the coming season?

EK: I am super excited for this upcoming season! This is my first year as the head coach of my alma mater and it is an amazing, full circle moment to be in this position. We have a young, talented team that I am really excited about.

JY: What is the biggest difference from this year’s team from last year?

EK: I wasn’t a part of last year’s team so I can’t speak on too many specifics, but this year’s team is younger than last year’s. We will have some freshmen and sophomores who will contribute for us at the varsity level, as well as a few upperclassmen who are back and ready to contribute again.

JY: Are there any newcomers to the team you think will make an impact on the roster this year?

EK: Junior Braeden Miller and freshmen Jacob Andreyo, Chase Luckovich, Zach Cadman, and John Khoza.

JY: Who do you believe will have a big year for your team this season and why?

EK: We bring back some solid production from last season with senior Luke Duckworth and juniors Jayden Stamm and Rocco Gigante. We will rely on them to set the tone for us this season.

JY: Who do you believe will be your toughest test for your team this year and why?

EK: I’ve been so focused this offseason with our team and making sure that we’re prepared, so I haven’t given much thought to anyone else yet. However, there are some solid teams in the TVAA that will challenge us. We are looking forward to the opportunities we have this season.

JY: What is your main goal for your team this season?

EK: I will never have a goal in terms of wins/losses or outcomes. Obviously we want to win the conference and then win a district title, but that will never be my focus. My goal is for us to establish an identity for Saint Joes boys basketball. We want to develop great habits, learn how to compete at the level necessary to win games consistently, and start to build a culture where winning is expected because we know that we are doing the things necessary to make that happen. Any positive outcomes we get will be a byproduct of that.
