HUNTINGDON – Hello basketball fans! Hometown Sports is here with another exciting interview with local athletes. Today I got to sit down with Juniata College Men’s Basketball coach Greg Curley. Curley is heading into his 24th season as head coach of the program. Enjoy!

JY: What is the biggest difference from this year’s team from last year?

GC: We graduated 8 seniors last year and 75% of our offensive production, so everything is new and different.  We have a lot of new and talented faces and we are looking forward to see where we can go with this group.

JY: Are there any newcomers to the team you think will make an impact on the roster this year?

GC: 7 or 8 of our first years will have a chance to make an impact.   Mo Ivery, Jayden Bilger, Ayden Hurley, Will Littles, Jaiden Aze, Jordan Shifler, and Malcolm Griffith lead the list.

JY: Who do you believe will have a big year for your team this season and why?

GC: We will lean heavily on our three key returners, seniors Mason Hardy and Tyler Lapetina, and sophomore Ty Kocak.

JY: Who do you believe will be your toughest test for your team this year and why?

GC: Given the depth of talent in our league and the quality of our non-league schedule,  take your pick.  On paper, Catholic and Susquehanna will be the favorites, but we expect every team in the league to improve given all they return.  We have lost the most, by far.

JY: What is your main goal for your team this season?

GC: Our goals are centered on what we term “The Championship Process.”  We have an idea of where we should be by the end of the season in terms of our team, our identity, and our quality of play.   We are always in pursuit of a championship, whether this year or down the road.  Our main goal is use the challenges and opportunities this year will provide to help get us there.
