The Mifflin County Lady Huskies Cross Country team concluded their season participating in the District 6 Championships on October 26 in Reedsville, PA. The weather conditions were ideal for running with the Fall foliage just past the peak offering a picturesque day for competition. 

Amilia Coffey led the team and was able to run her best time of the season. Several others were really close to their PR, however, career PRs for each member of the team were elusive today. It was still a nice opportunity to cap off a season where most members of the team were able to see some great improvement. When you finish the season it is a great time to reflect on the season as a whole. Since most of the team are veteran runners it’s also fun to compare their season times with the previous year and to see their progress.

Our two seniors are a success story and I couldn’t be more proud of what they have accomplished. Lexi Anderson chased her sophomore PR her entire junior year and couldn’t catch it. This year she was able to drop 47 seconds off when we ran in New Jersey at the end of September. Ava Wagner also chased her sophomore PR set at Districts in 2022 and was able to break through that significantly this season knocking off nearly 2 minutes! They can both reflect on their high school careers and be proud of what they accomplished.

Most of our other runners can also do the same when they look at the timeline of their progress. Ava Kratzer, for example, can look at her 2023 average times and see that her 2024 averages have a nice bump to them. Growing as a distance runner definitely takes time and patience, but it’s nice to see the progression over time.

There were 49 athletes in the AAA Girls Varsity race. The team finished in 7th place.
