PHILIPSBURG- Tuesday, the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team made the trek up I-99 to battle an up and coming young squad from Philipsburg-Osceola.
The night belonged to the Lady Eagles after they posted three goals in both the first and second halves while holding the Mounties to one for the 6-1 victory.
With the win, Bald Eagle Area improved to 13-3-1 on the year and 10-3-1 and a fourth place spot in the Laurel Highlands Conference.
Philipsburg-Osceola dropped to 2-11 on the season.
In the first half, the Eagles wasted little time getting the ball down in the Mounties’ end of the field.
Just seconds into the game, Bald Eagle forced an immediate corner kick.
At 37:27, Sybil Thompson blasted an a blazing shot past the Lady Mounties goalie giving the visitors the early 1-0 advantage.
The Eagles continued to pound the ball at the Mounties goal area.
Bald Eagle made it 2-0 as the group got the ball to Heidi Eveleth from there she sent it past goalie Samantha Martinez at 29:39.
Before the Mounties got a chance to settle in, the Eagle struck once again.
Mackenzie Bickle added to her team’s lead at 3-0 at 29:24.
Defensively, both defenses sealed up and the momentum remained on the Eagles’ side.
Philipsburg-Osceola picked up its first shot on the game at the 27-minute mark of the first.
When the buzzer sounded to end the first half, the Eagles held the 3-0 lead.
At the end of the first half, Bald Eagle outshot Philipsburg-Osceola 12-5 in the contest both teams tied things in corners at one.
Coming into the second half, the Eagles once again struck with its fourth goal.
Savanna Albright put her name in the scorebook as she blasted a goal at 34:57.
Bickle added her second goal of the game on an unassisted goal at 31:34.
The Lady Mounties refused to go away as they were able to work there way down field for a goal.
Philipsburg-Osceola’s Ashlynn Havens posted an unassisted goal at 26:04.
Rounding out the game was an Addison Tice goal at 7:42, putting the insurance goal on the board.
The game was ended with a 1:10 left in the game due to a Bald Eagle injury.
Bald Eagle Area out shot Philipsburg-Osceola 22-7 while also winning the corner opportunities by a 4-1 margin.
Notes: Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore was unavailable after the game due to a late game injury to one of his players.
