LEWISTOWN- The MIfflin County boys soccer team fell in their last home game of the season, falling to Altoona 2-0.

“We opened up the match with some opportunities by getting to the end line, playing the ball across, but couldn’t finish on the other end. They scored at 27:38 of the first half and that was due to some lack of communication in our back,” said Mifflin County coach Todd Peters said. “Then, we didn’t shake that goal off and fight right back, as we let another shot find the back of the net in under a minute since the first. We did challenge the ball in the air, but no one stepped to the ball that bounced and they fired home the second of the match. At half, we asked our guys not to stay on their heels and challenge the players at/with the ball in the middle and find some feet with our passing. We did do a better job of that, but we couldn’t put enough consistency together in order to get a break to get through their composed back line.”

The Mountain Lions outshot the Huskies 10-2 and 6-3 in corner opportunities.

Mifflin County goalie Jack Suydam finished with eight saves.

In JV action, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
