Saturday the Mifflin County Boys XC team competed in the Mid-Penn Championships.
Carter Smith once again paced the way for the Huskies finishing second with a time of 15:34.
Teammate Wyatt Kauffman finished 16th with a finishing time of 16:43.
“Today was a bit of a mixed bag for our team. On one hand, their effort out there was phenomenal and that is all I can ever ask for. Tactically, we made some mistakes that cost us a few places in team and individual standings,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe. “Those mistakes are great lessons and build well earned experience for this young team. We simply fell asleep at mile 2 when the other teams woke up. No bad efforts out there today. They just expect more out of themselves.”
Reese Cubbison finished a solid 23rd place finishing at 17:00.
Topping out at 46th was Hart Oden who crossed the finish line at 17:34.
Coming in at 53rd for the Huskies was Hoyt Rodenbaugh posting a 17:43.
In 57th place was Aidan Scavetti finishing with a time of 17:47.
Rounding out the Mifflin County runners at 68th place was Koy Aurand with a 18:12.
“We have a few hard workouts left before it’s time to back off in training, and I’m confident a little rest is going to have the team in a great place come districts and states,” said Monroe.
Notable finishes today include Carter Smith, Wyatt Kauffman, and Reese Cubbison for the MPC race; and Logan Breneman, Camryn Treaster, and David Snyder in the Tim Cook race.
“These boys were able to snag medals with a top 35 finish,” said Monroe.
