LEWISTOWN – The Mifflin County Huskies hosted the Waynesboro Indians on homecoming night at MItchell Field.

It would be the Huskies that picked up the 20-14 win.

“It’s a good confidence boost from our kids its two in a row Lower Dauphin is another challenge. They have a really good defense and they are a good football team so it’s going to be a challenge next week,” said Mifflin County head coach Shane Breon. Anytime you can keep winning you gain confidence. Chase grew up a little bit tonight. We were able to run the ball a little bit tonight so we’re getting better these games are all tough we gotta keep on getting better.”

Josh Maldonado was a force in the running game finding the endzone twice in Mifflin County’s 27-14 win on Friday night. On a night where both teams battled the rough field conditions where nothing game easy both teams had nothing easy going for them. Mifflin County put in some good successful plays to lead them past the Indians to stun them in front of the home crowd.

Mifflin County played well tonight. Both Dupree Reed and Reese Christine had interceptions on   defense. Peyton Kearns and Avery Aurand both recorded sacks. Harrison Bullock would recover a fumble around the 14-yard line in a scoop in score to extend the lead for MIfflin County.Aurand was a force at his position giving the Indians a rough time all night long.

Waynesboro ran the the ball early but MIfflin County would force the Indians to throw the ball even in times they were probably better off running the ball they threw it resulting in two picks.

Mifflin County quarterback Chase Hartung was picked off once that would be taken away due to a roughing the passer call.Huskies Cyrell Green also played well with some big receptions to lead Mifflin County down the field Landon Haigh would also join in on the fun hauling in a few catches for big plays in the win.

“I thought overall I’m very proud of our team. I think we showed out on offense and defense, especially the offensive line,” said Mifflin County running back Josh Maldondo. “I don’t think it’s the runs we need to improve on, we just need to step up against Lower Dauphin.”

Mifflin County will be back home next week to take on Lower Dauphin while Waynesboro will travel to Mechanicsburg next week.
