The Mifflin County Cross Country Lady Huskies faced off against a strong State College team in their first home meet of the season. “We are not at the point where we can beat such a strong and deep team. However, we decided to embrace it as an opportunity for individual growth,” said Mifflin County coach Neil Breneman. “Each of our athletes looked good, not only physically but mentally as well. I saw them running with confidence and a new outlook for the remainder of the season.”

Ava Wagner once again PR’d moving into the 22’s. Amilia Coffey and Ava Kratzer ran their season best. Kratzer, Cameran Shuey and Lexi Anderson were super close to new PRs. Lizzy Massie also PR’d again.

“It certainly helped to have a week in between our last race. Our grueling schedule the past few weeks helps to train us for later in the season, but it can have a negative impact on our current racing ability,” said Breneman. “I feel like tonight they really got a glimpse of what we could see over the next few weeks.”

“I was happy with how they all felt after running strong races. My challenge to them was to take the confidence they gained into our practices and to continue thinking positively about what they can work hard for and accomplish.”

The team will travel to Altoona this weekend to participate in the Mountain Lion Invitational.

Scoring for the Huskies was:

Amilia Coffey (22:27)

Ava Wagner (22:49)

Ava Kratzer (22:59)

Lexi Anderson (24:20)

Cameran Shuey (25:25)

Lizzy Massie with another PR in her first year of running cross country.

Ava Wagner, with her 4th PR of the season running in her senior year
