Reed:MC 15-16 gets revenge over Media in 5-4 thriller

MILROY-  The Mifflin. County 15-16 year old All-Star team closed the night off with a match up against Media Babe Ruth team.

Mifflin County came from behind and took their opening contest in a thrilling 5-4 contest.

“It was a great team win. These guys beat us 15-2 when we faced them at states and we came back and played them well as a team,” said Coach Dennis Yetter “ I’d like to see us cut the errors down but other than that we played pretty well as a team. Braxton got a good bunt down in the sixth inning and he one of our hardest hitters but he was unselfish and layed a perfect bunt down and I can’t say enough of what he came in and put zero’s through five good innings scoreless baseball he did a really nice job.”

Media jumped out to a quick start scoring four runs in the first two innings scoring one run in the first inning the other three runs came in the second inning.

Mifflin County hurler Chase Leister allowed four runs in two innings of work.

Leister would strike out Lucas Diiema out on a total of three pitches to record the first out of the ball game.

The bats would come alive for Mifflin County in the home half of the bottom of the third inning Thad Gerwick would rip a double in the gap to get Mifflin County’s first hit.

Gerwick said It felt great to notch the win.  “I knew our team needed to start something so i felt like i had to get it going and once i started it we kept going,” said Gerwick.

Gerwick had two hits on the night being a big factor in the game Wyatt Parkes,Na Zae Traxler, followed up with hits.

Mifflin County got some help in relief from Braxton Smith pitching five scoreless innings to keep Media off the board. Mifflin County also flashed their gloves on the defensive side. Parkes would catch Media sleeping on a bases throwing a runner out on a base hit in the outfield on a 9-3 putout. Mifflin County caught Media off guard early, turning a 1-3-6 double play when the running got caught napping at second Media continued to run into outs.

Anthony Rossi had two hits on the night in three at bats Lukas Zolata recorded a single hit in his second at bat Lucas Diienna had a hit in the game as well.MIfflin County played their best baseball late to come back to win 5-4.
