Big Valley10s bats explode for 11-5 victory over West Suburban

CENTRE HALL – Bouncing back in a big way!

The Big Valley 10s rebounded sharply after their opening day loss to Hershey, posting an 11-5 victory over a tough West Suburban team Sunday night in Centre Hall.

Big Valley finished the night with a total of 10 hits.

Leading the way offensively for the Red, White and Blue was Jake Savitts who finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Teammates Carter Walker and Liam Bender followed both with two-hit performances! Walker tallied two RBIs while Bender finished with one.

Pitching stood out for Big Valley as they combined to allow only three hits in six innings.

Picking up the win for Big Valley was  Izik Tate. Tate went three and two-thirds inning allowing one run on two hits.

Big Valley won the toss and chose to be the home team.

It was runs aplenty for both teams in the first as both finished four runs each.

After plating the 4-run first, West Suburban could not stop the Big Valley bats in their turn at bats.

Matthew Hartsock led off the inning with a single.

Chase Yoder joined Hartsock on base with a walk. Both move into scoring position on a wild pitch.

Savitts quickly cut the West Suburban lead in half posting a 2-run RBI single shot to Left field. With three consecutive wild pitches Savitts motored his way from first to home, cutting it to a single run.

Bender kept the inning going with a line shot to left field.

Aiden Goss singles in Bender, tying the game going into the second inning at four.

West Suburban added a run in the top of the fourth.

Trailing by just a lone run, the Big Valley bats came out front and center in the bottom of the fourth, plating five runs before all was said and done.

Savitts got the inning off and running with a lead off single.

Bender followed with a single of his own.

Goss loaded the bases with a walk, setting the stage for Tate.

Tate hustled out and reached on an error by West, scoring Savitts and Bender. Goss advanced to third on the miscue.

Easton Peachey kept the rally moving along with a walk to reload the bases.

Walker singled an offering into right field, scoring Goss and Tate while Peachey moved up to second.

Hartsock again loaded the bases for Big Valley with another walk.

Peachey scored the final run of the inning for Big Valley as he scored on a wild pitch, upping it to a 9-5 advantage.

From there Big Valley later added two more insurance runs while keeping the West Suburban bats quiet and cementing the victory.

Big Valley improved to 1-1.
