Logan Gibson Shows Good Eye At The Plate In Centre County Babe Ruth Loss To Altoona

Logan Gibson showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday, as Gibson walked three times. Even still, Centre County Babe Ruth fell to Altoona 9-8.

Centre County fought back after falling down by four runs in the first inning. The comeback fell just short though. Centre County closed the gap by scoring on a ground out, a home run, a single, a double, a walk, and a single.

Altoona got on the board in the top of the first inning after Braden Hatch was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Garrett Reece singled, scoring two runs, and Vince Albarano grounded out, scoring one run.

Centre County made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the first inning when Austin Houser grounded out, scoring one run, and Gibson homered to left field, scoring two runs.

A single by Ethan Prenatt gave Centre County Babe Ruth the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the third.

Altoona Babe Ruth took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Hatch walked, Beouce hit into a fielder’s choice, Anderson walked, and Reece walked, each scoring one run.

Houser began the game for Centre County . The righty allowed four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Beau Rabel started on the mound for Altoona . The starting pitcher allowed three hits and five runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three.

Ethan Prenatt went 2-for-4 at the plate as the infielder led the team with three runs batted in. Gibson paced Centre County with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Gibson stole two bases.

Garrett Reese provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Altoona  with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Leadoff hitter Tyler Mcgough led Altoona  with two hits in five at bats. Lucas stole two bases. Altoona  had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Altoona Babe Ruth ran wild on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases for the game. Altoona didn’t commit a single error in the field. Detrick had the most chances in the field with six.

Centre County Babe Ruth will travel to Broomall Newtown Babe Ruth for their next game on Monday.
