Walters places for Juniata at Jim Taylor Invitational

 The Juniata women’s track and field team wrapped up the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna in day two of the meet this Saturday. The highlight of the day for Juniata came from Olivia Barbacci, who delivered the third-best pole vault in program history.

Olivia Barbacci finished in ninth place in the pole vault, clearing 2.75 meters to finish in ninth place. It puts her third in program history in the event. Ashley Alfree was 14th with a mark of 2.35 meters.

Juniata competed in two other field events, including the high jump and javelin throw.

Emma Coolidge logged her first javelin throw mark for Juniata, hitting a mark of 31.07 meters to finish in 11th of 45 competing.

Alfree also competed in the high jump, finishing in 12th with a mark of 1.37 meters.

The Eagles competed in two track events, the 200-meter race and the 400-meter race.

Alfree finished in 35th with a time of 30.67 in her first outdoor 200-meter dash, while Zoe Biles‘ first time of 32.62 put her in 41st place.

Barbacci led the way in the 400-meter race for Juniata, finishing in 17th place with a time of 1:04.31. Biles followed in 36th with a time of 1:10.94.

The Juniata women’s track and field team returns to competition at the Millersville Metrics next Friday, March 31st, and Saturday, April 1st.

The Juniata men’s track and field team concluded the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna on day two of the event this Saturday. Barrett Walters podiumed in the javelin throw, finishing in third place.

Juniata competed in field events, including the discus throw and the javelin throw.

Barrett Walters rounded out the podium in the javelin throw, as a 51.99-meter throw gave him third place.

Walters went 32.89 meters on his second discus throw attempt to finish in 22nd place. Luke Bittner went 23.78 meters for a 42nd-place showing.

Juniata competed in four track events, including the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter race, and 5000-meter race.

John Redos logged his first 100-meter dash time for Juniata, placing in 21st of 54 participants with a time of 11.80.

Redos and Lincoln Riddle competed in the 200-meter dash. Redos grabbed 21st place from a field of 47, finishing in 24.25. Riddle placed 33rd with a time of 24.87.

Riddle produced a seventh-place showing of 48 competing in his first outdoor 400-meter attempt, finishing in 52.12.

Ellis Kline logged a time of 18:01.32 in the 5000-meter race to finish in 29th.

 Barrett Walters started the season with the second-best hammer throw in program history. Walters set a personal record en route to his fifth-place finish with a 47.52-meter throw on his fifth attempt. He sets the second-best mark in program history, improving on his previous best of 41.29 meters set at the Ship Mid-Week Meet last season. He stands 1.59 meters from Andrew Paterno’s record of 49.11 meters set in 2017.
