The Shippensburg University men’s indoor track and field team competed Saturday at the 2023 Plex Shootout hosted by Alvernia.

SU won four events and compiled a host of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifiers. Mo Whittle won the triple jump; his top mark was 45 feet, 5 ¾ inches. Robert Lissner claimed victory in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, 7 ¼ inches to match his season best. Donovan Hart nabbed his league qualifier in the high jump by clearing 6 feet, 1 ¼ inches.

At the throws area, Pat Maloney took second in the weight (59 feet, 1 ¼ inches) and third in the shot (48 feet, 10 ¼ inches) Teammate Josh Herbster was close behind, taking third in the weight (58 feet, 3 inches) and fourth in the shot (48 feet, 9 ½ inches).

Of the action on the track, Jeovaughni Daniel was among the standouts, winning the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a new personal best of 8.48 seconds. Luke Hinegardner (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), cracked the league’s Top 10 in the 3K with a time of 8:54.03 that resulted in a fifth-place finish. Kevin Wagner picked up a league qualifier on a time of 8:58.22.

Competing for the first time in the 2022-23 academic year (including cross country), Chayce Macknair snuck in a conference qualifier in the 5K by running 15:49.99.

Alexander Ermold became the 11th Raider to qualify for the PSAC Championships in the mile; he finished fourth on Saturday with a time of 4:29.42.

Shippensburg will send a contingent to compete at the Bucknell Tune-Up next Friday. The PSAC Championships will be held in two weeks at Bucknell.
