LANCASTER—Nine area wrestlers earned medals at the Neil Turner Memorial Holiday Classic on Thursday.

Mifflin County had nine place winners and finished seventh in the team race with 111 points. Bellefonte came away with three medalists, good enough to put the Red Raiders in 16th with a score of 72.

Parker Kearns led the Huskies with a third-place finish. The Mifflin Count junior defeated Central Dauphin’s Michael Beers 8-2. Kearns had a takedown in the first, a reversal in the second, and two takedowns in the third period for the victory.

Blake Aumiller (133), Jacob Cunningham (145), and Deakon Schaeffer (160) took fourth. Avery Aurand (172) was sixth, and Lucas Sheetz (139) came in eighth.

Mifflin County had a rough go of it in the medal rounds, going 1-5.

Bellefonte picked up a fifth from freshman Ezra Swisher (121), a sixth from Noah Weaver (139), and a seventh from Gage Long (145).

Swisher beat C.J. Ferree of Central Dauphin 4-2. Long pinned Thomier White of St. George’s Technical, DE, by a fall in 2:51.

Central Dauphin rolled to the team title with 241 points. The Rams had four champions, a runner-up, a fourth, two fifths, and a sixth.

Mifflin County returns to action on Thursday, January 5, at home against Cedar Cliff. Bellefonte hosts Penns Valley on Wednesday, January 4.
