On Saturday, November 26 in Van Cortland Park, Bronx, New York, Juniata’s sophomores Wyatt Stroup and Joey Bomberger ran in the freshman/sophomore boys race.  Wyatt placed 4th in the race and 2nd as a sophomore running a time of 17:26.3.  Joey finished right behind him in 5th place and 3rd as a sophomore.  His time was 17:26.6.  Sophomore Jessie Bomberger ran in the freshman/sophomore girls race.  She ran to a 36th place finish with a time of 23:29.9 and 21st as a sophomore.  Senior Logan Strawser competed in the Marty Lewis Championship Boy 5k race.  He placed 16th with a time of 15:56.1.  8th grader Sylvia Brubaker competed in the girls 13-14 age group.  She placed 3rd overall running a time of 20:59.1.  Juniata Coach Jeff Miller said “It was a nice way to finish off our long cross country season with all 5 of our runners walking away with medals.  Joey and Wyatt redeemed themselves from the State Championships with a very good result.  Logan ran tough, but came up short of placing in the top 10 and making it to nationals.  16th place is still a great result when you consider there were some of the best runners in the Northeast of the United States in the race.

Jessie showed she’s still in great shape running a very solid time on this difficult course.  Sylvia did great competing in her first 5k cross country race, cracking the 21:00 barrier is very good as a 8th grader.”  In each race 1st – 10th place receive first team All-Northeast status, 11th – 20th place receive second team All-Northeast status, and 21st – 30th place receive third team All-Northeast status.

In addition, Senior Logan Strawser was voted First Team All-State in Cross Country for the 2022 season by the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association.  He placed 3rd in AA competition at the PIAA State Cross Country Championships.  Logan was a repeat District 6 Champ along with breaking the District course record.  He is the first cross country runner in Juniata history to be named to the first team.  Juniata Coach Jeff Miller said “This is quite an honor for Logan to be voted to this team.  Pennsylvania has some of the best distance runners in the country, so this accomplishment didn’t come easy.  Logan gives me 100% and has worked so hard from the beginning of his running career that started two years ago.”
