MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata fought every step of the way, but just could not overcome its errors and Mifflin County took advantage to win 3-0 in volleyball action Thursday night during the Pink Out at Juniata High School.

During the first set of the match, neither Mifflin County or Juniata were really able to get the momentum going throughout the set. But as time went on, the Huskies were able to pick up few runs late that carried them to a 25-20 victory.

But then in the second set was when things started to go a little haywire for the Indians at least not at the start as Juniata scored the first four points of the match behind the serving of Cheyenne Nealman as well as a kill from Lexi Frontz.

However once Mifflin County got the ball, it was all Huskies especially when Taylor Seese got to the serving line as the Huskies went on a 11 point run during the frame. During that run, Dakota Hershberger collected five kills and Gracen Haines had two kills. Mifflin County won the second set 25-11.

Then in the third set, it appeared as though it was going to be a repeat of the second set as Juniata had another solid start in the frame. But Mifflin County battled its way back to keep the game close.

However, unlike last time, the Indians were not going away quietly as they started putting the pressure on the Huskies and having the game tied at 24 apiece.

But then with the game on the line, Mifflin County got the ball back thanks to kill from Hershberger to make it 25-24 before Haines came in with a kill of her own to clinch the third and final set 26-24.

The Huskies were led by Hershberger who overall had 22 kills, 15 digs and five aces.

Another factor in the Mifflin County victory was Seese who had 13 assists and five aces. Also Gaby Lynch had 15 digs and Riley Hine collected five blocks.

For the Indians, they were led by Reese Foltz who scored herself 14 digs. Foltz was joined by Frontz who had nine kills and 15 digs and Isabella Armstrong had 14 assists.

The Indians won in the JV game in three very intense sets with the final being 2-1.

Both Juniata and Mifflin County will play again on Monday with both teams going on the road. The Indians (8-7) will travel to Line Mountain and the Huskies (7-8) will take the road trip to Red Land.
